Pathology preparation guidelines:
- Fast for a minimum of 8 hours, no more than 12 hours – Only drink water and no other food or beverages
- Avoid smoking and chewing gum – These can impact your results.
- Continue your prescribed medication – Take your medication as usual unless otherwise instructed.
- Avoid strenuous exercise and sexual activity for 24 hours before your appointment – These activities can cause false elevations in liver function tests (LFTs) and PSA levels.
